The Forum now has a permanent home, its own telephone line and a friendly voice all at the Substation for Architecture, 2798 Sunset Blvd., L.A., CA 90026, (213) 413-1198 – ask for John Chase. The next discussion series will also take place at the Substation and will include a series of presentations of theories about Los Angeles by local theoreticians – tentatively titled “Los Angeles Talks.” Another planned series will include an examination of the architectural and urbanistic vision proposed for Playa Vista. The series will focus on city design and will present the current crop of large-scale development proposals that differ radically from both 1960s bulldozer zoning and 1970s it’s-got-to-have-benches-to-be-beautiful planning. Anyone who would like to help organize these events or would like to help make the fabled Wilshire Walk a reality, please contact Kris Miller at (213) 413-1198. “33 D6 E6” – the Pamphlet is currently at the printer – watch for it in your mailbox (if you’ve renewed your membership) or in your local bookstore (at $8 if you haven’t) soon. We are still soliciting ideas for new pamphlets. John Chase has been elected as a member of the Board of Directors and Mel Bernstein is our new Membership Coordinator. Contact him re: new or renewing memberships at (213) 413-1198.
