Yes, there are lots of plans afoot for Forum activities this fall. This issue of the newsletter is the first of our new poster-format publication which is slated to appear every other month. Doug Suisman’s pamphlet has upped the ante for any critical investigations of Los Angels sponsored by the Forum and is being distributed coast to coast by Princeton Architectural Press.
Our next two pamphlets will be by Douglas MacLeod and Mike Davis. Douglas MacLeod’s forthcoming effort is entitled “Architecture and Information.” His aim is to produce a different interpretation of urban design, based not on a paradigm of Cartesian spaces, but on a paradigm of information. This pamphlet will be available both on Macintosh disc and in “hard copy.” While the personal computer may be an effective instrument for the new interpretations that are proposed in the pamphlet, MacLeod see the computer as a symptom of that change, not as it cause. Mike Davis is preparing a pamphlet about the Los Angeles River, based on his recent article ion the L.A. Weekly. We are interested in correlating his piece with any other research or projects for the river.
If you know of any, please give us a call.
