On The Map: Supercession
Supercession is the evolutionary redevelopment of projects and sites within the mature city, considered as a form of historical drama. Urban architecture exists rarely as a terminal and definite resolution; but rather as a temporary prospect within a continuum of possibilities.
On the Map 2012: Supercession features several new and recent projects that have a provocative relationship with existing or previous land uses. Sessions will be staged not simply as a monologue by the designer, but as a dialog about the work in relation to its context.
