Trump’s Leviathan has swallowed the Forum and spit it out: The fall Forum series City Design LA was scheduled to have its fourth and climactic final event on the site of the Ambassador Hotel until Trump’s organization pulled out their local representative and refused to let their architect Scott Johnson (who had already agreed to speak) participate. They claim to be in the middle of negotiations and don’t really have a proposal yet. The local school board, the site’s neighbors, architect Richard Keating and planner Marty Berko had also agreed to be part of the proceedings. We will try again in the spring. (See Aaron Betsky’s article “Two Defeats” also in this issue.)
